Nice one, i like this type for going out anywhere really, I will say that maybe apply mascara last as when using sparkly shadows I always find it gets stuck in my mascara and looses the effect.

Style in the Closet - Wardrobe organization

So this morning while i was getting dressed I was thinking about wardrobe organization - probibly because mine is a disaster zone at the moment (no it is not usually but when an 18 mo old helps you put clothes away the thought is more important then the perfection of her work) and that i need to go in a purge and make a wardrobe back bone of basic that i love to wear and can be versitile and paired with different things..


(these are my latest sewing projects in progress will post the finished ones another day)


I was thinking about what are my basics my tried and true always in the dirty clothes stand-bys ( i should say i am very bad at wearing my favorites and not great baout wearing all my clothes so i want to get a closet plan on the road so i can utilize all the things I have spent money on or time sewing).

So for me these are my basics (being a homemaker - I love the picture that word conjures)
- black well fitting yoga pants - 2 - 3 pairs
- 2 pairs of nice fitting jeans
- 3-4 tee shirts or everyday blouses
- 3-4 layering pieces (like cropped hoodies - my fav. or cardi's)
- 2 maxi skirts in basic colors.
 and all the rest is just bulking out the backbone :)

So I love tunics/kameez tops they are sooo comfy and flattering to the figure.  remember you wanna keep the one thirds two thirds going weather its top or bottom or 3 thirds, it is most attractive lines on a body. half and half not so much.  Also layering really makes and outfit so having tanks or skinny shirts for unders or cardi's or sweaters for layering is important to looking your best.  Also take care with your accessories that the are emphasizing the message you are want to send today not mixing it too much...fusion is a style its self but you gotta watch your accessories if you are doing a bold outfit you should keep them blending if your outfit is plainer or subtle you can bust out with the bling and sparkles.  I totally think you need to do thinking and feel inside yourself who you are and what message you want to send about you and your beliefs and youself as a woman.  and then fit your wardorbe and personal style to that form not the current fashion trends, but follow them as you choose what fits into your puzzle of you.  Fashion is subjective and you are more beautiful staying you then following and sqishing in a mold not made for you.  You are more beautiful as yourself then trying to be anything else or anyone else.  When we accept ourselves as women as ladies and as Lovely then our inner beauty will radiate thru our choices in our closet and we will get that certain sparkle that some women have, nd it is just confidence and being happy in their skin.











Whe we get there then we can decide what flatter the figure we have now and make the most of it, all women at al sizes are beautiful and uniqe, you need to do some thinkin and searchin to find the most flattering styles for your bodytype.
I look best in tunics, or princess style dresses and tops, in leggings or pants that have a slight flare or bootcut is best.  it balances my full thighs and hips (luscious booty lol;)) and things that have waist definition cause being busty as well anything boxy no matter what i do makes me look short and fat! haha, so i tend to stick with skimming rather then very full styles.

 Now for colors!  My favorite part!  Now when i was an old teen (gulp: like 10 yrs ago :0) i did ALOT of research into personal style and beauty and makeup, I still love it all, but oe of the best advice I have ever come across besides doing you colors to know what season you are is to pick 3 base colors for your wardrobe:
- 1 basic - black, brown, navy, tan, khaki,ect (Mine is chocolate brown but i have black too)
- one power color - a favorite that you are comfortable and confident in always that you get lots of complements in is usually good (Ie for me its plum purple)
- and one accent color, any color that you look great in and love, that kinda goes with your other two. like your second favorite color. (mine is Red or Hot pink or Yellow)  You can pick 2 of the last ones, and then rock you wardrobe

And then you buy all your basics in you basic color and then you secondary pieces in your power color and the rest in your accent colors.  and you always end up with thing matching or complimenting and you never end up with one green shirt and nothing to wear it with :)  That was always me a BUNCH of separates and nothing to wear, when i started this color technique I never again had too many clothes and nothing to wear, I keep a small amount of clothes that i really like, about 35 items and never am l!eft with nothing to wear or piles to go thru to find things.  I love it!...

So this are my tips on a workable always fun, easy to pick something from Wardrobe!  Have a happy Saturday!

So I was browsing for sewing insiration this morning and came across some of the up coming trends for 2012 and spring fashion.  It was quite a lovly browse :).
I am loving the 60's inspired as it is much more girly then the last crazy men's fashion for women thing that was going on and I dont not enjoy.  "It is against my religion" - to quote my darling sister when something doesnt flost her boat she always says this the the most high society tone that she can....usually everyone busts out laughing at that piont....so back on topic! Its actually not against my religion, but kinda against my belief system...women dress like women men dress like men...but how far that can go is a whole 'nother post! SOOOO....Back to up coming 2012 looks!

And shoes!  Gotta have some shoes for my sister dear and all the other shoe lovers!  but seriously how could  you not love these?

So there it is...some of my favorites of the up coming fashions and styles for the holidays and spring 2012!  I am very excited for some of the up coming trends, hurry up spring!

Indifference....or Not?

Okay so the last couple of days I have seen countless "sponsor a child for Christmas" commercials, and been thinking how can i feed my child and sponsor one more?  And seen on a few of the blogs I read some good post raising awareness for organizations who do help kids, in Africa and many other countries.  But I cant get past the so I sponsor that child until he/she is old enough they no longer qualify and then what?  what do they do?  I know they probably got to go to school at least some, but what about their brothers and sisters?  What about their parents who if they have them give up their food everyday so their kids can grow?  And I came up with after a emotional discussion with my own dear mother, about how we just cant help them all....That we can help their mothers, and in essence help the kids more.  they get parents and food and housing and hopefully school.  We feel like the parents are often to blame, but it not really like that, especially their mothers, (I am warning you I am very passionate about this subject so you are warned in advance), If their Mom's had job options or a place in the society there would be more healthy kids and families.  the problems almost always come from women being no more then dogs or slaves and at least they are thought of as a burden to handled.  How would you like to pray your whole life to be able to get married to a man you dont know just so you are allowed to live? If you were born a woman in India you would have to.  They are allowed to "abort"(kill) adult daughters that they cant afford to find husbands for or other various reasons, if they cant marry her off and cant support you they could kill you LEGALLY! Think about that.  You could help by sending girls to school so they at least get job options to support themselves. you could help with their job training, Or literacy. Gospel for Asia(100% goes to where you send it) and the Catholic church, and our government (plan.ca) and other organizations have ways for us to help with these basic needs.  There are many options now days for ttis type of help in Africa and other parts of Asia as well.  There are so many countries in this world where women are second class if they are lucky and the children suffer for it too....if she looses her husband a Mother is left with little option to feed her kids, keep her dignity, with no standing as a person.  she has to scrounge for food or make a very hard choice....and often times pay with her life leaving her kids all alone.  We really can help.  If we help the mothers (parents) feed their families the kids get everything they need, Mom and Dad and food and shelter.  helping with job training or village needs, or literacy, or schools gives people more options then just feeding them.  they can be proud of their accomplishments as they work up and out of the poverty, or despair that war and bad government can produce.  Women are a force to reckoned with in this world and if they are given the chance, we can change it, one step, one child, one movement at a time.  Remember it wasn't that long ago in Canada that Women (we) were not allowed to vote, own land, have custody of our children if husbands divorced us or died, and we certainly couldn't have respectable work, besides housekeeping or nanny positions.  it wasn't long ago at all, that our brave great grandmothers stood up and said WE ARE PEOPLE! WE HAVE RIGHTS.  lets help another woman or two have the courage to make her own future brighter.

Tragically Ingnored

For some reason there are alot of crimes against humanity, mostly women and girls around the world that even though some people know nothing happens to stop it.  I hope by increasing awareness we can help stop hate crimes and injustice to women and girls worldwide.  I have always wondered why they say men are the strong ones?  They are usually the dominant ones, but we are the strong ones,  women the world over usually have to endure more pain in their lives then men do, and in many countries are treated as and have no more value then animals! In India women are thought of as the lowest of castes and can be aborted by their families until they are into there 20's and if they cant marry them, they are allowed to kill them and call it abortion.  We need to do something to help our sisters.  Remember we are not exempt, we just are safe right now because brave women stood up and said "WE ARE FIRST CLASS CITIZENS TOO! We deserve to be what we want to be, we deserve respect, we deserve love, we deserve to have choices that we choose!"  and they kept standing up and fighting for it until it passed.  that is why we can t work and go to school past grade 9 and collage and choose our husbands, and be respected by them, why we can say how many kids and when we want them.  why we can have good jobs and sit in the same place in a church.  because some brave women fought for us.....lets be the brave women who fight for someone else to have the right and stregnth to fight for her own daughters...even though it may be too late for her,  there are many daughters who can benefit.  But we have to say something, do something, and NOT turn the other way, just because we are comfortable now.  All women deserve good safe happy lives.  Just imagine it was your daughter......What would you do??

Strength

I have been thinking alot lately about Strength and what it is exactlly.  Is it about never falling down?  Or being able to get up again after you have?  I believe it is the later,  which is really harder after all, to pick your self out of the dust and try again, after everyone has seen you fall.  To carry on and build again, and work through all the trials again and then when you are standing on the top, not to rub it in anyone elses face. I think that is strength.  To help and love and learn and get up again and again until you top the hill.....and run down the other side knowing there is just another one behind it, and on and on and on.

So remember to get up, the sun comes out in the morning, or the next one.....but it always gets better, if you work for it and have faith.

Fashion and fabulous-ness ;)

So I have been really noticing people personal style lately (or lack there of)...and it gets me thinking that in all the striving to look perfect in some form or another that us ladies go thru everyday, I think the most important thing is your state of mind. :)  I think a good dose or self-worth, and bunch of sassy-ness and a touch or crazy, with a pinch of hotness (but not too much) thrown in for good measure make up a wonderfully fabulous look, for any woman, and it can't help but turn heads! :)  People will look because you are confident and lovely, men will look because of your grace and fun attitude, and ladies will look too (c'mon you all kno we check each other, to either compare, or take note for look-lifting for our own future use), to see if you are friend or foe....please try not to add so much hotness that you are an enemy rather then friend to other women.  We are important to each other, as friends, support, encouragment and ,....babysitters LOL.

I think it is very important to know yourself well enough to choose some fun, eccentric, pieces as signatures to be worn very often.... a favorite braclet (or stack of them), or necklace, or ring, watch, shoes, makeup look, OR all of the above that are just totally YOU!  Its great to play wth different looks and styles, and i think even as christian woman it is important to enjoy our femininity.  but also important to keep it to enjoyment and not obsession.....which is way to easy to slip into with all the constant pressure on women to be perfect all the time.  But in reality it is impossible to give "Beauty" a check list or specifiac recipe, there are more types and kinds of beauty then we can think of, which is why it is so important to celebrate the kind of beauty God has blessed you personally with, dont fight it, emphecise it, own it, work it girl!
